Drag Race Holland Season 2: What you need to know

You know what they say, the devil works hard, but RuPaul Charles works harder.

Even though Drag Race Spain has just wrapped up and we are halfway through All Stars Season 6, RuPaul and the team at World of Wonder are planning to release the second season of Drag Race Holland on 7 August.

With the cast just announced, here’s what you need to know about this year’s batch of Dutch darlings.

Same host, new face and wigs

Fred van Leer will be returning to host the second season of Drag Race Holland, and it was announced earlier this year that Season 1 winner Envy Peru will be doing his makeup.

However, Fred may need to find someone else to do his wigs, because drag queen Vivaldi, who provided the host with wigs in Season 1, will be competing this season.

Will having a close connection with Fred help Vivaldi in the competition?

Season 3 winner Raja was friends with some Drag Race production members, and Season 6 winner Bianca Del Rio was very close with RuPaul’s good friend Lady Bunny before competing, so it looks like Vivaldi’s connection to Fred could help her snatch the crown.

Drag Race Holland or Drag Race Amsterdam?

It is expected that a lot of queens competing on Drag Race Holland would come from Amsterdam – last season, six out of 10 were from Amsterdam.

However, this season is stacked with queens from the capital, with eight of the 10 contestants coming from Amsterdam.

The queens from Amsterdam are Ivy-Elyse, Juicy Kutoure, Keta Minaj, Love Masisi, My Little Puny, Reggy B, Tabitha, and The Countess.

Meanwhile, Vanessa Van Cartier will be entering the werkroom from Rotterdam, and Vivaldi comes from Enschede.

A queen to watch

A potential front-runner this season could be Ivy-Elyse.

She comes from the Mermaid Mansion, the same house as Season 1 contestants Miss Abby OMG, who reached the top four and was the season’s lip sync assassin, and Envy Peru, who swept the competition – winning four out of seven challenges before taking the crown.

Ivy-Elyse, one of the few Asian queens in the Dutch drag scene, is well-known for her high-quality performances.

Will the Mermaid Mansion be adding another crown to their house?

Tune in from Saturday 7 August on Stan or WOW to find out.
